Argor-Heraeus in Mendrisio is proud to announce its official entry into the B Ecosystem as a Swiss Triple Impact (STI) Leader, a recognition granted by B Lab Switzerland. This milestone reflects the company’s deep-rooted commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and responsible sourcing.
As part of the STI program, Argor-Heraeus has committed to five pledges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- Climate Action (SDG 13): Achieve net-zero Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2033 and reduce Scope 3 emissions by 50% compared to 2020.
- Water Stewardship (SDG 6): Cut drinking water withdrawal per kilogram of refined metal by 30% by 2028 compared to 2023.
- Responsible Sourcing (SDGs 8, 12, 6): Double annual sourcing of gold from Artisanal and Small-Scale Mines (ASM) to at least 4 tons by 2030.
- Employee Well-being (SDGs 3, 8): Reach 85% satisfaction and well-being rate among employees by 2028, with 90% participation.
- Inclusive Workforce (SDGs 10, 8): Ensure at least 5% of the workforce comes from underserved communities by 2030.
Among these pledges, Argor-Heraeus is especially proud of its commitment to responsible sourcing from Artisanal and Small-Scale Mines. By paying fair premiums to ASM programs that reinvest in mining communities, the company ensures that artisanal gold enters responsible markets, fostering long-term social and environmental impact.
The Swiss Triple Impact journey has also highlighted the strength of the company’s internal culture. Voluntary employee participation in workshops, open dialogue across hierarchies, and the unlocking of individual potential have all contributed to shaping a shared vision for sustainability.
