The Swiss Precious Metals Association (ASMP) has launched the Swiss Precious Metals Transparency Platform (SPMTP), a new online platform designed to make the origin of gold processed in Switzerland transparent and to help strengthen trust in the precious metals sector. The initiative represents a concrete step in the Association’s broader efforts to enhance transparency across global supply chains, in response to growing interest from civil society and regulatory stakeholders.
The platform, which is freely accessible to the public, enables users to easily understand the geographical origin of gold and the different types of material. At the same time, it provides the authorities with a structured and regularly updated data source that complements existing control and verification processes, thereby strengthening the overall information system available to them and supporting the high standards of the Swiss precious metals sector.
As a member of the Swiss Precious Metals Association (ASMP), Argor-Heraeus actively contributed to the development of the platform. Argor-Heraeus welcomes the launch of this important project and is pleased to have contributed to an initiative that promotes transparency, traceability and responsibility throughout the precious metals supply chain, while also supporting effective oversight by the relevant authorities.
