Three Goats. One Golden Wish for Prosperity.
Argor-Heraeus unveils the Year of the Goat 2027, the latest release in its Lunar Zodiac limited-edition collection.
At the heart of the design is the auspicious Chinese expression 三羊开泰 (sān yáng kāi tài), which can be read as “three goats herald prosperity”.
Traditionally associated with renewal, harmony, and positive beginnings, it expresses a wish for fortune to rise and endure throughout the year ahead. The relief depicts three goats standing on mountain peaks, each holding a string of traditional Chinese cash coins as clouds of good fortune gather around them. The goat’s associations with gentleness and benevolence are balanced by the upward movement of the composition, evoking resilience, ambition, and steady progress.
Together, the three figures and three peaks form a festive blessing for enduring wealth, abundance, and success, welcoming the Lunar New Year with meaning and distinction.

The inspiration behind the design
The expression 三羊开泰 is a traditional New Year expression adapted for the Year of the Goat. It is based on the older phrase 三阳开泰 (sān yáng kāi tài), in which yang refers to sunlight and the bright, life-giving energy of spring. Because the Mandarin words for “goat” and yang share the same pronunciation, the traditional meaning can be expressed through the zodiac animal of the year.
Passed down through generations and still used today as a New Year blessing, the expression conveys wishes for happiness, resilience, success and lasting abundance.
